From a modest start, producing Italian pastas in Paarden Eiland in 1995, Beat & Martha Reichmuth started this family business: Gastro Foods. Their son Andreas joined them in 1996 and the business developed into a major force in the manufacturing of meat and allied products for the catering and hospitality industry in South Africa. In the modern factory in Parow Industria they produce a large variety of specialities in the true European tradition.
Under the "Ricomondo" label a comprehensive array of cold meat products are produced. Their Travaligni curing facilities, engineered by a Company from Milan, has just been enlarged substantially. There they produce a variety of an- tipasti's such as Italian Salami, Coppa, Pancetta, Prosciutto, Lombo (Loins), Salametti, Salaminis as well as Air dried Beef, Black Forest Ham, cooked and smoked Hams, Pastramis, Carpaccios etc. Gastro Foods also specialize in a complete range of veal and lamb cuts and a large choice of European style sausages. In addition to that they are representing the superior Chalmar-Beef products in the Western Cape. |
